The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies (IWS) celebrated its 12th annual Commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 16, 2013 with the graduation of 40 Masters and Doctoral students.

“We are so proud to congratulate our distinguished graduates,” said President James R. Hart, who presided over the Commencement. “Their achievements in the study and ministry of worship leadership have brought worship renewal to many places all over this country and across the globe, lands as far away as China, India and Russia. The mission and ministry of God’s Kingdom has been advanced around the world through the faithful labors of these graduates.”

Guest preacher for the Commencement was the Right Rev. Dr. John W. Howe. Dr. Howe served as the third Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida from 1990 through 2012. In his Commencement sermon he proclaimed, “Worship commences, matures and culminates in right seeing: seeing God as he truly is, seeing Jesus as who he claims to be, seeing ourselves as the desperately needing recipients of his love and forgiveness, giving as much of ourselves as we are able to as much of him as we can understand. That is worship.”
