God’s story is not a thing apart from God but the very life of God in the life of the world. Consequently, we are called in this story, not as an idea that needs to be defended with intellectual argument as if its validity depends on proof, but we are called to enter the story by delighting in it and participating in it. For true spiritual life is not an escape from life but a passionate embrace of life itself, which, it turns out, is an embrace of God and God’s purposes for our life here in this world and in the eternal praise of God in the new heavens and the new earth.
