Presidential Search Underway

With much prayer for discernment and wisdom, the Board of Trustees is in the process of seeking the next president of IWS. The international search was launched in April 2024, with the selection of a search team and the crafting of a job description.

The President will perform multifaceted functions including:

  • Providing visionary leadership, appointing and overseeing administrators, providing strategic direction and serving as the liaison with external constituencies;
  • Responsibility for oversight of the day-to-day operation of IWS, including supervising staff, and serving as the liaison between IWS and the host church and local community;
  • Excellent fund-raising skills and the ability to build donor relationships and assure maximized revenue streams;
  • Experience or willingness to develop enrollment pipelines and expand international student recruitment and international church outreach and partnership.
  • Accordingly, the President should have an earned terminal degree (DWS, PhD, DMin, EdD) in worship or with significant connection to the discipline of worship in line with the philosophy of worship held by our founder and the Institute) along with professional expertise appropriate for these responsibilities.
  • The ideal candidate will be someone who strongly motivates, communicates exceptionally well with genuine spiritual understanding, has the heart attitude of a pastor/shepherd, and embraces being part of the IWS community, understanding and promoting the direction set by its founder, Robert E. Webber.

    Dear friends,

    This is just a preliminary inquiry. To provide you with a brief background, I was a graduate student of our beloved, Dr. Robert E. Webber and got to know him well. This was years ago while he was then a professor of historical theology at Wheaton College. Since that time, I’ve gone on to teach, lead the student life program at a Bible college, pastor full-time both on a university campus as well as in parish ministry and to earn a PhD in renewal history and theology.
    My preliminary question though has to do with what would be required of an IWS President with respect to living in Jacksonville. We currently reside just outside of Toronto and wondering if it would require a total relocation. Thanks!
