Feb 2, 2026: The Nicene Creed

Robert E. Webber

The [Nicene Creed] is marked by the Triune structure of God’s story. The Trinity is not mentioned as a mere isolated fact but is set forth with its dynamic activity and interrelationship. The Father creates; the Son becomes involved in creation through incarnation, death, resurrection, ascension, intercession, and coming again in glory to set up his kingdom forever. The Holy Spirit is involved in the whole rescue mission of God, assisting the saints, empowering the apostles and the church, and witnessing to the resurrection of the flesh, the forgiveness of sin, and the kingdom to come. It doesn’t get any clearer than that. — Robert Webber, Ancient-Future Worship: Proclaiming and Enacting God’s Narrative (Grand Rapids: Baker Books, 2008), 72.
