There is at least a four-sided meaning to the action of eating and drinking at the Lord’s Table in worship. The four parts are the Breaking of Bread: The presence of Christ and resurrection joy. The Lord’s Supper: Remembering the death. Communion: Mystical union with Christ and each other. Eucharist: An offering of praise and thanksgiving. All of these emotions should be included in our thinking and worship when we gather around the Table of the Lord.
