Mar 25, 2024: “In-Goded”

Robert E. Webber

When we enter God’s divine embrace we are not only marked by our baptism into Jesus and gain a new identity with Jesus, we are also sealed by God’s other hand, the Spirit. By God’s two hands we are made new. . . . Think of it! God’s embrace of us in Jesus is a real and actual union in which God’s Spirit now dwells within us. We become, as some ancient fathers like to say, “in-Goded.” God’s Spirit takes up residence within us, and this results in our passionate embrace of God and of God’s vision for the world. — Robert Webber, The Divine Embrace: Recovering the Passionate Spiritual Life (Grand Rapids: Baker Books, 2006), 159-160.
