Apr 29, 2019: Passive Worship (Oxymoron)

Robert E. Webber

Since order is the symbol of God’s speaking and acting in the midst of his church, there can be no justification for passive worshipers who simply sit and soak it all in. . . . Passive worship cannot be justified on the grounds of Scripture, theology, or history. For this reason, it is a matter of utmost urgency that the church break through the obstacle of a passive worship. And it is important that we see in worship renewal a rediscovery of a structure through which Christ is faithfully presented and rediscovered, a worship that is free and intentional.
