The message of the Bible . . . is an event-oriented perception of the world. The framework of that message is that God created the world; that the world fell away from God in the disobedience of the first Adam; that God rescued the world through Jesus Christ, the second Adam; and that at the end of history God will complete the rescue operation in the establishment of the new heaven and the new earth. The center of the message is the person and work of Jesus Christ.
